Calvin Klein, 2002
Calvin Klein, a world leader in fashion and fragrances, was launching a national ad campaign for its latest men's scent: Crave. Calvin Klein wanted to build something on the cutting edge.
Calvin Klein wanted to include in this campaign a multiplayer, head-to-head, real-time online game called SuperEditor. This game needed to store and retrieve game play statistics and had to scale to handle thousands of simultaneous players.
Carbon Five built the Crave SuperEditor game using the Macromedia Flash Remoting and Communication Server platforms to integrate a custom, back-end enterprise Java application. The use of these emerging technologies was crucial to creating SuperEditor within the project budget. SuperEditor was delivered on time and on budget for a successful launch, and was able to handle a large user load from day one.
Our goal was to provide an appropriate solution for Calvin Klein that would continue to add value to the business long after deployment. Carbon Five achieved this by understanding client needs and goals up front, and then by applying our flexible development process and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. Carbon Five utilized cutting-edge tools in a manner that minimized for Calvin Klein the business risks traditionally associated with early adoption.
