Communicate with the world

The Walt Disney Studios Corporate Communications (WDSCC) project is an in-house CMS backed website for providing corporate information to the public. The information published includes: executive bios, studio division information, corporate press releases and the ability to directly contact the studios.

The WDSCC site was developed in conjunction with several Disney organizations and our partner, The Groop, who provided the visual assets, human interaction guidelines and overall creative direction. The technical requirements for the project necessitated integration with Disneyʼs proprietary CMS platform and a proven systems architecture in conformance with Disney standards.

Solution

An agile software development process and experienced engineers

Identifying the organizational and technical integration points was a primary goal early in the project. Together with The Walt Disney Studios, project requirements were reduced into smaller user stories, allowing Carbon Five to identify integration points and plan accordingly. Meanwhile, The Walt Disney Studios was able to clearly see and participate in Carbon Fiveʼs software development process. Carbon Fiveʼs process also ensured WDSCC system architecture was in conformance with Disney standards.

Having a background in CMS systems (SmileMaker), Carbon Five adapted to Disneyʼs own in-house CMS system rapidly. This proved to be valuable in several regards. First, Carbon Five understood how the configuration and management of Disneyʼs CMS system fundamentally functioned, and therefore required less ramp-up time. Second, Carbon Five was able to seamlessly develop a custom system architecture around existing Disney software frameworks and IT infrastructure.

Combined with Carbon Fiveʼs agile software development process and experience with CMS systems, The Walt Disney Studios was able to develop an in-house solution and transparently oversee itʼs management.
